The lack of respect of the 9 am shoot time for the first week of opener and the decoy time rule?

Was out on a lake this morning at 5 am.

Was one other duck hunter there, noticed he was or is a member of DU/DW from the stickers on his truck.

Well I get out to the area of the lake where you can shoot out of, and low and behold I turn the corner and at 5:30 there are decoys on the water already. Go by em, they flash a light. I flash back. I go and get situated where I been scouting from, get nestled in behind the stump. 630 comes around and all of a sudden the island lights up and ducks fall from the sky. Along with a few geese. They sit and shoot non stop from 630-8ish. Then they pick up their deeks and head back to the launch about 9 am. On the way out they yell goodluck...

If only I had my cell still.

  holes are pissing me off. Wrecks it for everyone.

Anyone else notice this crap going on ?

Um......

I believe it's only for opening day that you have to wait till 9:00 to shoot.
Here is a copy of the hours taken from the DNR web site:

SHOOTING HOURS
Shooting hours for ducks and geese are one-half hour before sunrise (except
9 a.m. on Oct. 3) to 4 p.m. through Saturday Oct. 10, and until sunset
thereafter. See youth hunt and early goose season for additional hours.

legal shooting here was 6:45 this morning not 6:30. It does tick me off that some guys cannot wait.

if i read the post right you said you went out sunday morning october 4th? sunday you can shoot half hour before sunrise on that day. the only day that you have to wait till 9 is on opener. on a side note im sure people do break the 9am thing on opener and yes it does ruin it for everyone else.

So what is the point of even having to wait 1 day to shoot a half hour before sunrise?  To me MN is just a breeding ground for the southern states for ducks.  We have a bunch of BS laws and limits that most other states don't have the last time I looked.  Which was about 10 years ago, the last time MN recieved any of my money for waterfowl.

it sucksto have a few hundred dollars into mojos that you cant use for 2 weeks also! We do have a few early shooters around my area in mn too, and the guys in ND shoot early every day i have been out. Every day this year we have had to scare ducks up out of our spread when it got to eb shooting hours! (in ND)
