I planted 5 rows of corn as a screen on the side and one end of my food plot I did not spray and plant the rest yet. However I wanted to start the corn anyhow. Talk about lack of decent food source around they have already targeted my corn sprouts. I will take this as a good sign. Just wait till the barasica mix goes in

Sometimes when you have a small plot of corn, pheasants will walk right down the rows and pluck the sprouts out to get at the seed.  :banghead:

Stripped gophers dig up the kernels.  Right down the row.

Do you have a trail cam in the area?  Would be nice to see if the deer is of age and has the proper headgear.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

Guessing deadeye is on the right track based on the pock marks in the photo. Striped gophers have an uncanny knack of knowing exactly where to dig even before the corn emerges. They also continue digging plants up and eating the seed after they've emerged. Squirrels are a close 2nd, followed by turkeys around here.

That's what got me started with hunting.  After having to replant (by hand) all the hills (yes, hills like in the old days when you streached a wire with knots on it to trip the planter) that the buggers dug up, I became very proficient at popping off the famed stripped gopher.  Many a gopher fell to the trusty 22 aimed out the old 1948 Plymouth window.
