DNR temporarily closes trails in Fond du Lac, Nemadji and Chengwatana state forests
(Released August 20, 2010)

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has temporarily closed OHV trails in three state forests and canceled an event because recent heavy rains and strong winds have resulted in downed trees and wet trails.

Trails are temporarily closed to OHV use including all-terrain vehicles, off-road vehicles and off-highway motorcycles (OHM) trails in the following state forests:

Fond du Lac State Forest
Nemadji State Forest
Chengwatana State Forest
The Straight Arrows OHM Enduro event scheduled for Aug. 22 in the Nemadji State Forest has been canceled and will be rescheduled.

Trails in the St. Croix State Forest are open with the exception of the trail between Hwy 173 and the Tamarack Forest Road which will be closed. General Andrews State Forest remains open and all forest roads remain open unless posted closed.

Temporary trail and forest road condition information is updated every Thursday by 2 p.m. Trail users may also get current trail condition information by calling the DNR Information Center at 651-296-6157 or toll-free 888-MINNDNR (646-6367).
