After fishing this afternoon, I went out and did some scouting.
I found some heavy used turkey trails at the place that I hunt.
I set up a few blinds in the pinch points and will be spending some time in the coming weeks putting the birds to bed to find out which spots will be best.

My son got picked for a youth hunt, so, he will be tagging along to learn a few of the tricks I have up my sleeve.  :happy1:

Anybody else ready?
Pattern your guns?
Got your packs ready?
Blinds set?
Trying something different this year?                   :Turkey:

I've been out a couple times scouting and plan on getting out 2-3 times this week also before B season starts.

I've seen lots of great tracks and droppings and we've seen lots of birds around the property throughout the day. Toms are gobbling pretty good already so I'm hoping we're in for a better B season than we had G season last year.

I am with you, I hunted the G season last year - didnt see too many birds, but had a chance at one, just never came into the decoys.
I will be hunting season C, havent been up to scout yet - but I will be going up 2 days before, so Ill have to get out there and figure something out.

Now that I think about it, I need to take off my slug barrel and put my bird barrel back on and I'll go check my sight in on Wed after I do some scouting in the woods.  ;)

some questions
12 gauge 3 1/2's kick my ass but i can handle it for some meat.
pattern was real tight but to the left a few inches anything i can do but aim to the right a tad?

what is the best way for looking for turkey trails?
are they in the same places as deer season if so im set when is the best time to hunt fields

how can you tell how far a tom is away when you cant see him
im hunting may 4-8 hbu?

Does it pattern the same with a lighter load?
Maybe flinching when it kicks?

Best way to find turkey trails: Looks for turkey tracks, turds and feathers.
Are they in the same places as deer season: They can be... depending if they have food. Predators and pressure can move them out, and they will travel large distances for girl friends.

How far away a Tom is: This takes a little practice, you can judge a distance by how load his return gobbles are.

My son will be hunting next weekend, and me and my daughter are drawn for season F

i don't flinch because i shot it twice and both to the left. and i shoot a 30-06 in deer season and the 3 1/2 does not have that much difference.

well when i go up the weekend before i will check the two spots they roost in every deer season one spot my buddy watches them fly down the other i watch a group fly down

i know we have a good population becouse in the fall you see around 25 turkeys per group and i know of at least 2 groups with 2-3 toms mixed in
