Is anybody getting ready for turkey hunting?

I've been doing ALOT of scouting latley, checking areas for tracks......

I think I'm going to buy a new Tom decoy this year. Because I think the "henning up" season will be early with the warm weather. By the time my season comes around, they will be all grouped up with hens and hard to call in. I'm thinking that if I put a Tom with a raising tale and some hens, I should be able to bring a dominate Tom in for a shot.

What is your ideas?

I think you might be right about it being early this year. I did not get drawn this year but still get to go out because we are buying a lic for my 12 year old. We are going during season c. The 28th and 29th of April. Where we go there is a lot of turkeys and should be great for him. Good luck and hope you get one. We go down south  east MN.
If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.

I agree HD the turkeys have been courting for a while here in ND... here are a couple picks of the Tom Im going after with my bow.  Might have to try a Tom decoy also.

Lentz, I'm thinking the earlier, the better.
Most of the turkeys that I have been spotting around the Isanti area have been displaying and working the hens.

I usually went the last two time periods.  I go with a bow so that gives me 14 days.  Also, it's usually dry enough to drive in to my land by then.  No problem driving in now so I may rethink the time.  Heck, at this rate the farmers may be harvesting by then.
