I have several gardens.  First on the list was the rhubarb.  I took in all the radishes and just started getting cucumbers, peas, beans and lettuce.  Tomatoes, corn and potatoes are looking good.  Been working on onions for a while now.  Peppers and ground cherries are coming along nicely.  Pumpkins, gourds and watermelons are setting now.  Carrots will be a while yet.  Flowers are looking very good.  Not too much on the grape vines.  The last two winters were really hard on them.  Lots of nice apples forming now.  They are now bigger than golf balls.  Now we just need hot, wet weather to pull it all together.

for all you coffee drinkers, instead of throwing all  those used coffee grounds in the garbage, put them in your garden or compost pile. I had a biologists tell me coffee grounds are a great sourse of nitrogen.

3rd planting of radish went in the ground this morning, 2nd planting was a waste. All that 90 degree heat gave me a batch of huge tops but just a bunch of skinny roots. Cooler weather should help the radish crop and carrots..

Kill the plant? I know you can harvest young spuds soon after the plant flowers. Perhaps they are harvesting young potatoes for sale and do not want the plants to continue to grow    or maybe they are even harvesting seed potatoes for next season?

They kill the plants to ease harvesting.  Once the plant is dead and dried up, they don't clog the potato diggers.

Could have just had my wife take care of them, she would have killed them, no spray needed!  :whistling:

I have taters to dig and carrots to pull but will cover them in straw and let them keep growing, Radishes are also still growing  Sunflowers are about ready to harvest and containers with peppers and cherry tomatoes are ready to get moved into the green house. A lot of tomatoes ripening on the vine still. When everything is pulled I will till and then till again come Spring. I try and get leaves turned in with the fall tilling but we are still pretty green still here. Pumpkins and acorn squash are also ready.
