Dakids opening weekend

We got to deer camp on Friday and excitement, and hope was running high.  As I pulled into camp we spotted 9 deer on the main food plot.  My youngest daughter was going to sit with my mother in her box blind and my oldest was going to sit in a stand on state land about 100 yards from me.  Her first time sitting solo.  I had bow hunted the area the previous week so I had a handle on the where about of the deer.  At sunrise my younger brother scored on his biggest buck of his life.  I had passed up the buck on Thursday night because I was hoping for one of the bigger bucks for my buck tag.  He weighted 220.  I think I underestimated his age.  He scored a little over 115 inches.  My youngest daughter passed up 2 does early in the morning because the were to far and in some brush.  She was rewarded with her first deer ever at 11.  It was a perfect heart shot at 80 yards.  My mother said she was shaking really bad before the shot.  She brought the gun down and calmed herself and then took aim with less shaking.  My mother was crying.  She said it was better than shooting herself.  My oldest daughter and I struck out on our morning sit.  She was going to sit with grandma in the evening sit.  She spotted her first deer around 2 and just watched it.  She wanted her first buck.  At 4 she saw a deer eating its way to her.  It was Bubba. She had to wait 20 minutes for him to make his way to a small clearing on the edge of the food plot.  Seconds before she was going to pull the trigger my father shoots a doe 75 yards away on his food plot.  Bubba looks in that direction for a second and goes back to eating.  Bang, He drops in his tracks.  She screams and climbs down and runs over to claim her prize.  Grandma is crying again.  20 min later my older brother shoots a doe on the third food plot.  He had watched her for 45 min.  He was hoping for a buck to follow her into the plot.  It was a GREAT DAY at deer camp.

   How can you possibly make more memories of one day.  Some day the girls will be Grandmas.      Your family is doing it RIGHT!!

Bubba was the 6 pointer with spots.  The spots have faded a little.  When I skinned him his hide was very thin and I tore it a few times while pulling.  We are going to tan the hides ourselves.

Great job there for the dakids clan.  Sounds like you guys did really well.
