I, for one,  do not  partake in the black Friday "event"
I would think that I would end up in jail for hip checking grandma for that Scooby-Doo Chia pet....  :police:

Reminder: Admission to state parks will be free on Black Friday.

Even the Gov. Has latched on! :doah:

Gov. Mark Dayton has proclaimed Friday, Nov. 27, to be "Free Park Friday" at all Minnesota state parks and recreation areas. The usual $5 fee for a one-day vehicle pass will be waived to encourage Minnesotans to get outdoors and experience the benefits of nature on the day after Thanksgiving.

"At a time of year when Minnesotans pause to give thanks, I am so grateful for the incredible state parks and trails we have here in Minnesota," said Lt. Gov. Tina Smith. "Visiting these parks is a great way to spend time with family and loved ones, relieve stress and enjoy exercise in the great outdoors."

Research shows that spending time outdoors benefits children and adults, including improving mood, enhancing creative thinking and problem solving, promoting a conservation ethic, and improving physical fitness. On Thanksgiving Day, the average American consumes around 4,500 calories. A brisk walk can burn about 300 calories in one hour.

"There is a Minnesota state park within 30 miles of almost everyone," said Erika Rivers, director of Minnesota state parks and trails. "So no matter where you live or celebrate Thanksgiving, the restorative power of nature is always nearby."

The Department of Natural Resources encourages visitors to:

Use the online

 Park Finder
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/parkfinder/index.html
to help choose a destination for a post-Thanksgiving hike.
Check individual state park Web pages for seasonal updates.
Bring drinking water.
For more information, visit www.mndnr.gov/freeparkfriday or contact the DNR Information Center at info.dnr@state.mn.us or 888-646-6367 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

I made it over 60 years without going to a Black Friday event, that is until last year.  My wife and I decided to see what all the fuss was about.  We got to Menards about the door opening time.  Two things surprised me. One, the parking lot was full and we had to park across a street in a motorcycle parking lot and two, there were no people to be seen.  Well, when I went in the store I found all the people.  Interesting shopping though with checkout being the worst of the experience.  After waiting in line for 15-20 minutes, a store employee said we could checkout at the customer service desk and to follow her.  She led us to the end of a relatively short line and then left.  Just then I a guy comes from behind and said, the "line starts back there buddy".   There was a break in the line to let people through and the real line extended out to the garden area.  We went back the end of the line we were in and started all over again.   :bonk:

If you do go out shopping try and give the salespeople a little break. One of my daughters works retail and yesterday she spent a 12 hour day just cleaning off shelf's and the when the store closed it was a rush to restock all the shelfs with sales items, The day before and the day of Black Friday is an ALL HANDS day which means everyone works, no excuses. All cashiers, all stockers and all sales people will work 10-12 hour shifts. Breaks and a lunch, good luck.. She does come home with the stories though of what people will do to save a couple of bucks. She says the employees call it Thunderdome.

My wife and daughters just went shopping.  Me and the boys have the house with leftovers and football all to ourselves.  Good times.

My wife did all her shopping from her computer last night and got all the same "deals" with free shipping.  I'll never understand anyone going out in that zoo.
