I have an old cruddy piano but it has ivory keys.  Are they worth anything?  I have googled it and I get mostly BS about elephants etc.  These are real old and I am not killing an elephant.  Don't get me wrong.  I love elephants and mean no disrespect.  Just not what I am asking.

Sure if it is no trouble HD ask him.  The piano is junk and I think I will just pry the ivory off the keys.  See if they have any value to him or anyone.  The will be in a zip lock bag.  I will try to pry them off today.  Then I am going to dump the piano.  I will see if I can get a date off the piano too.  thanks.

LPS....here is what my buddy said...

"Are the keys on the wooden sticks or are they simply pieces of ivory?  It is now illegal to sell ivory, so unfortunately they are worthless as far as selling them for money goes.  However, they are valuable if someone has a piano with some of the ivories missing because it is no longer possible to buy new ivories.  I have a bucket of ivories that I save for those pianos that are missing a few.  If you don't want them, I will add them to my bucket and they will eventually be put onto someone's piano."

After I took pics of the piano and the year marked on it we pried the ivory off.  Some of them split and some did not.  Most have little nicks on the front edge as they are from 1895.  Or at least that is what was on the piano.I don't think they are worth much anyways.  It looks like if you can document that they are older than 100 years they are saleable.    I may just send them to you.  I am trying to think of anything I can make out of them.  ????

you could make a button out of one and when you hit the button a bell rings and your awesome wife brings you a cold one?  I think it's weird they are made of real ivory frankly.  I've got 8 elk teeth that are supposedly ivory, there goes my retirement plan...
