Does watercress grow here in Minnesota?  I moved up here from Ohio over 25 years ago and haven't seen any anywhere up here in any creeks.  Sure od miss a good watercress salad.  We used to eat watercress all spring and early summer until it got too hot.

From what I have read, it can grow here. But, I have not seen anything about "where" it is growing.

It grows around low areas.  I have seen what I think is cress growing along the lake on Vermilion, and also near the whitewater by Altura when I was trout fishing.   South fork or south branch of whitewater.  It's been a couple years since I went by there since there was a big fish kill for unknown reasons a couple years ago.

I never seen water cress north of Pine city.I fished lots a trout streams where it grows in Mn. Cold clear water. Lots a streams that held trout had it some entered the Mn river some the cannon and vermillion river near hastings. The streams I used to pick it dont hold trout or water cress much anymore but I do have spots south of the cities where it still can be had.
Theres a seed you can grow its just called Cress,it grows in areas you can grow  lettuce cool spring plant.I believe Jungs seed company has it.I grew it a few years back it had a mild peppery taste like water cress close but not as good as wild

What type areas did you pick it in Ohio?

As some have all read said, it does best in cool, clear slow moving shallow water.  (less than 4 ft. deep.)  It kind of looks like clover.  If you start harvesting it in spring, you can keep cutting it for a few weeks until it gets hot.  Once it blooms, you won't want to eat it.  Makes a good salad.  We used to have it with a hot vinegar and bacon "wilt" dressing.
