Since I put up a couple new feeders, the finches, Orioles, black birds grackels, blue jays, gross beaks, Downey woodpeckers, pheasants, chickadees, turkeys, doves, sparrows have all picked up.....But.....the red headed woodpeckers have not been seen for awhile. Where did they go?

My guess on the redheads would be they had a brood and need more protein for the young uns. I noticed orioles skippin the jelly and liquid feeder for Ash trees while young uns are beggin for insects an worms they grab off the trees. They still hit the sweets but dont feed the youngsters that. Lots a walblers in the ash branches doin the same

WE have it out year round lots of it.We buy real suet from a local butcher shop about 25? 27 cents a lb. Piliateds are here all the time plus every type pecker in Mn cept redheads!! and their young started showin recently. Crows have fledglings and I been trying to make friends with suet. They woke me this morn crowing outside a window.
I crow 2 times after the suet is on the picnic table They do show but are weary of me yet
