Internships

We have 200 summer internships available. Apply now!

DNR Internships provide students the opportunity to gain practical work experience in a realistic work environment and expose them to state government employment while receiving academic credit. Internships are based on learning objectives as defined by the DNR intern's hiring supervisor, the intern's faculty advisor and the intern.

In order to be appointed to an internship, the student must be receiving academic credit for the experience from his/her school. Interns may be high school or college level students seeking an internship for academic credit or as a means of fulfilling an academic requirement. Internships may be full or part-time and generally last anywhere from four weeks to one year.

Finding DNR internships

DNR Internships will be posted on the MN.Gov/Careers website.

You can view open positions by entering "intern" or "student worker" in the Keywords field on the Job Search page and selecting Natural Resources Dept as the Agency.

The bulk of DNR's internships are from May until September with a recruiting period beginning in January and ending in the beginning of April.

Interested students will need to apply on the MN.Gov/Careers website.

We talked to 3 or 4 interns at the nearby PA's last season. They were mostly involved with filling out surveys on where your boat had been & where it would be going in regards to AIS monitoring. I believe they were all BSU kids. All were friendly & hoping to get a foot in the door with the state for after graduation. I think it's a great program.
