I have always wanted to, but never had the opportunity.

The majority of my turkey hunting started in Chatfield, hunting the bluffs and hills.
Then the population started to grow around here due to the NWTF, in conjunction with the DNR.

Well let's just say I know a guy that could remedy that. If you are interested in Merriam's, and have the time, the BlackHills is a fun place to chase them. Opportunity knocks

Application Deadline: February 12, 2016
The spring turkey season offers licenses specifically designated for the prairie units, the Black Hills, Custer State Park, and an archery season.

Hunters have the opportunity to apply for a license in each of the different seasons. In fact, there is an opportunity to get additional licenses for the prairie season. Details may be found in the application information for these seasons.

Season Dates:

Prairie - April 9-May 22, 2016 - Season dates are for all units except Davison/Hanson and Lincoln. Also, the split seasons in Clay and Union counties was removed. Lincoln county has been added to the restricted area where a person may only use a shotgun using shot shells, muzzleloading shotgun or bow and arrow.
Black Hills - April 9-May 22, 2016
Custer State Park - April 9-May 22, 2016
Archery - April 2-May 22, 2016

All I could find was the 2016?

Do you fill out this pdf form or do you buy yur tag over the counter?

You need to make yourself a profile. Then apply online. There is always more tags available than what is sold for the Hills. On occasion if it's last minute and I decide to go I have stopped and purchased them at a regional office. But it's still the same game. You just do it at the office😁
If you do it online they mail them to you

I've never turkey hunted.....except in the freezer case. Looks like it's quite a challenge, to say the least.

You can fill out everything online HD. Including the application. Just have to create your profile before it allows you into the actual applications. Call me if ya have questions.

Reb it can be a real challenge! But for me there is nothing like that first gobble in the morning darkness to get the motor running. If some one told me I could hunt only one thing, it would be the turkey!!!! But know one has yet, and even they did I wouldn't listen....... :happy1:

Yep mail. We will talk on dates. Not 100% on my schedule yet. But either way you have a place to stay and a million acres to hunt on!

We will talk one day next week. If I can't go I'll tell ya where the key is to the cabin. Likely some one will be there. If I am able to go then we could drive together. We take wheelers if there isn't to much snow. Also you need to pick trail passes now if riding in the Hills. If I'm not able to go, you guys could stop here on the way and I'll show you some areas on the map that have been good for me over the years. Blinds are an option, but Merriam's are lot more vocal. Usually..........I tend to run and gun out in the Hills more so than Hunting the Eastern here. If your willing to cover some ground, by wheeler, truck, or on foot you can usually get on some birds throughout the day
