WEDNESDAY UPDATE

We are definitely making ice in this cold weather but the ice is cracking at the same time. We had several cracks across Lake St. and Walleye Drive and one across the west end of Perch Parkway. We bridged them where we could and avoided some others so we could complete a lot of road work. We completed Walleye Dr. and most of Perch Parkway( up to the crack).

We also pulled out our standard rental houses. Our ice is mostly 10-14” and with the roads plowed, they will freeze down even better. The cracks are an ongoing concern and we will be watching them.

On Thursday, we hope to pull out the rest of the rentals and block/bank them all. We hope to start pulling private houses on Friday or Saturday. Drive ons and wheel houses will depend on the ice and the cracks. We are getting very close!!! Hopefully we will not get too much snow on Thursday. Stay tuned for updates.

UPDATE: Just spoke to two fishermen who caught 20 jumbo Perch today out on Perch Parkway. Three of them were 13.5 inches which are very nice fish. That is the best Perch action I have heard of in a while. We generally see good size but not that quantity. Also our son Sam just came in and he and two friends caught several nice walleyes today, 18,18.5,25, and 27, all nice and healthy. It sounds like it is going to be a very good year.

I would love to get into a bunch of nice perch.  Can make for a fun day.  Hey HD, where is the lake in the opening page at?  I used to fish for trout at Square Lake north of Stillwater a lot when I lived there.  Was my favorite place to ice fish.  That reminds me of it.  Some old little cool cabins and some new houses.  Great picture.
