Can you fellers seriously recommend a GOOD insurance company to have yer car/house with?

I may be dumping State Farm tomorrow, because of some of the crap they're pulling on me concerning a Surety Bond and some other issues. The agent is a hotshot pr***. I've been with them 12 yrs. Would consider changing to another agent, but some of the bull is straight from the company.

Driving: I've never had a ticket, an accident, or claim. Not even a parking ticket. Paying $650 yr on the truck for everything you can get. (I'm told this is pretty good rate)

House: Never had a claim or issue. Also have a $1,000,000 umbrella policy that covers everything, guns, jewelry, liabilities, etc.

House insurance is $1,300 a year. Have updated real value/replacement on my house.

Any good companies you guys are happy with?  Rates?  Thanks!

I've been happy with state farm... but on the homeowners insurance you need to check out what they think the value is as compared to the actual value.   Agent isn't going to take care of you on this one....

Ya, that's not the issue. Taken care of that one already, Del. It's the other stuff that's PO'ing me off. Just called up two of my body shop owner buddy's to get the lowdown on auto claims, and just got off the phone with my buddy Cain Kline of Kline roofing. Seems State Farm is one of the best to work with.....so, I'm going to see my agent tomorrow. Maybe when I get done, things will change, or I'll get another agent.

I've been with State Farm about a dozen years myself and have been happy with them.  They gave me no trouble when my house/roof suffered hail damage and have been easy to work with in general.

That being said, I am very upset that they chose to hire Aaron Rodgers for their commercials and it ticks me off to know that part of my premiums are going to pay that jackass for his endorsement deal. :mad1:

The wife said that our house and land is estimated at $450,000 and we are paying a $100 a month covering all out buildings and the house.

We have our vehicles covered as well.....so, 4 vehicles and the house for $400 a month

Have our house and vehicles all with Auto Owners.  Been with them for about 20 years.  Have had some claims and never a problem.

Like HD, I too have American Family.  I have had no issues over the many years I have been with them.  I have house, cars, boat, ATVs, and an Umbrella policy with them.  Cars and truck run around $350 a year.  This is partially due to having the house and umbrella policies with them.  I have had multiple storm claims one in 2008 and again in 2011. Both claims were settled quickly and fairly.
My father in law had Farmers ins on his house in Arizona.  I worked a hail claim remotely and it went ok especially being the storm occurred over a year prior to me making the claim.  Only issue was trying to cancel the policy after my father in law died.  For some reason they really didn't want to cancel it.  Go figure

I go through an Indepentant Agent who has 12-13 different companies for my car & when 1 company starts to raise my premiums he put me with another. I'm with Progressive now. My life insurance is with State farm & has been since '75. Mom has all hers with American Family as well.

I'm with State Farm also and have been for over 28 years.  I've had claims [hail damage] and was handled fine.  I think my rates are high.  Ever since a new agent took over the office I deal with things have gone down hill.  We call, they never call back.  How about deductibles.  I have $250 on my two vehicles and $500 on the house.  I have freinds who have much higher deductibles.  Is that a better route.  I'm thinking of getting a independent agent.  My friends who have them have much lower rates than I do and have more stuff to insure.  good luck.

My house deductible is $1000......that's too much for me. $500 would be good...
I met with the big cheese a bit ago, and told him  exactly what I thought of the BS letter they sent me, their inability to communicate, to get things done right, and a few other things. Was planning on telling him to cancel my policies, and still may, but he wants me back at 1:00 to "make things right". In other words, insurance dudes are the used car salesman of the world.
"Hold on, I'll run it past the boss"...(then they go out back and have a smoke) We'll see what happens. I owe them nothing. They owe me. That's the mindset you need with these guys.

I've noticed that when i got hail damage I tell the roofers to eat the deductible and they usually do with the 500 deductible.  But with a thousand I wonder if they would eat that.  But then if I ever need the roof done again,  I can just get some bids and see who is the lowest under the check amount so that the deductible isn't a factor.  Probably should have done that with the $500 deductible.  good luck.

The reason they have high deductibles is to save on claim payouts; a lot less people will turn in claims , of course, with a high deductible.  It's gotten pretty cut-throat out there; talked to my buddy yday that owns a body shop, and he said some of the insurance places still owe him money after 6 months!! He said some are impossible to settle with, I won't mention which ones he told me.
