My other half wants a protable deer stand for Christmas and I was just looking for some insight so I don't end up buying the cheapest one I find.  He will be using if for both bow and rifle hunting.  Preferable be able to seat two people.  I would like it to have a roof, heater, cook stove and bathroom incase I decided to hunt with him................wait it's supposed to be portable.

Thanks, Jewel

Look at the Gorilla line.  They make some of aluminum so their light and have big platforms.  Not big enough for your jacuzzi but you can suffer by for a while.  ;)

Jewel, when it comes to hunting equipment i would just let him point it out for you. the smallest of details between one stand and another could make a world of difference to him. besidesif he ends up not liking it you can say well you picked it out.

How much are you willing to spend.... Top dollar?

Then we can all list some in your price range that he will like.

I would like to keep it under $200.  The funny thing is we looked at them about a month ago in Fargo and I think he asked me more questions, like I know.  He loves to hunt but came from southern MN and did not sit much, guess they drive around the sections looking for deer???  He needs guidance and I can only talk about deer hunting soooooooooooo much.

The only type of stand I have ever used is the good old home made kind.  Even the portable ones my dad has are very simple, practicle and homemade!!

Thanks, Jewel

If he likes to move alot. Buy him a ground blind. Double bull makes one called the Matrix 360. i have this blind and use it more than a tree stand, very easy and fast to set up and take down.

Jewel, ladder stands are nice, comfortable, and portable.
I like my climber. they're not for everybody though.
what kind of situation does he hunt in. that would be very helpful?
the only stand that I know of that allows two hunters to sit in is the buddy stand. they are a ladder stand with a double wide seat and have a railing. I like mine even though I havent seen it in over a year. I should get out and see if it's still there.
we lost one stand some time before hunting season. basturds!

hang on stands are ok, I made a living in them my first twenty years of hunting.
as i get older and more outa shape, they are less attractive to me, though I did buy another one this year that I like.

so much of this depends on him.
my guts tell me the ladder style stand will be your answer. suitable for most applications and in your price range.
no matter what you get him, he's gotta love it right? ;)
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

Thank you guys for all our help!!!!  Most of the places he has been hunting this year have been in the woods or on the edge.  The group that he hunts with does drives all day long, and he is the only one who bow and muzzle loads.  Hence the reason he wants a portable because they do not have any stands on the property.  I was planning on painting it pink for him so none of those Bass Turds will run away with it  ;D

Jewel

OHHH yea and he better darn well love what ever I get him!!!!  I still love the hammer he got me the other year, actually it was the best gift I ever got!!!
