I was in SD last weekend.  Very tuff decoys the birds. 99.8% were adults, leading edge birds stink.

NW MO had 1.4M last week, down to 1M yesterday from the surveys.

NW MO is down to 50K on Monday.

Goofy weather patterns right now.  S&Bs are scattered from NE to SK.  I heard another 1' of snow for parts of SD last night, the corner had 8"+ last week.   More snow for upper midwest this weekend too.

We had a great weekend. We ended up with 30 birds! We only got 1 last year. I'll post pics but I don't know how... I'll try to figure it out.

i was out tinkering with the motorcycle last weekend, and I live by the river in Hastings... and I must have seen about 7 or 8 flocks of about 40-50 snows in each flock come fly over the house...  looks like there are getting to be so many of them, they are expanding their flyway.  I never used to see this many around here.

IT depends on when the migration is over. I am not sure the date of the seasons end, but when the birds have all moved through... the hunting is over! In a typical year the birs only migrate through an are for a few weeks - a month. It depends a ton on weather. The birds migrate with the snow line. As the snow melts and there is water in the fields vs snow; the birds advance north. A big snow fall can move birds south by a whole state in a days time, and nice weather can move them north just as fast. With that said, when it ends in one state/states it is just beginning in another. Some times the birds will "stage" or pile up in a spot as they move north for an extencive ammount of time. This extends the season in that area for longer periods of time. The tricky thing is figureing out where they will be and when. It is nearly never the same time according to a calnder, so to hunt them you have to be extreemly flexable. Hope this helps! ~Greg

Water was key this year.  The lack of run off was huge, so if you found water, you found S&Bs in SD and ND ANd CA too.

Like they say, the best snow goose decoy is a floater.  :party1:
Where I'm from calling, flagging and decoying are just basic skills and the kids will do a little guiding just to pay off some bills.
