Anyone ever tried grilling grouse?  I have some from last fall I want to cook up, but would like to try something different than the usual oven baked in cream of mushroom.

i am thinking they would be really dry after grilling, but i would
try coating them with olive oil and wrap with bacon. season to
your own tastes.  ok a recipe, never tried it.
 Breasts and legs from 2 grouse
Salt water solution
Large sheet of heavy-duty foil
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt, or to taste
Black pepper
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 slice onion
1/2 cup white wine
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Bone grouse breasts, discarding bones. Soak breasts and legs in salt water for about an hour to draw out any blood. Arrange breasts and legs side by side on shiny side of foil. Place pats of butter on grouse pieces. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Top with pepper and onion slices. Fold edges of foil up slightly to form a rim, and add wine and oil to packet. Roll-fold top of foil together, then roll-fold side in to form a neat, well-sealed packet. Place on preheated grill and cover the grill. Cook for about 35 minutes, then check for tenderness. It should be ready at this point, but may need a little additional cooking time if the grouse were older. The oil and butter keep the meat juicy in this recipe.

Geeze I hate the cream of mushroom soup deal...you could put roadkill in that stuff & pass it as edible! :rotflmao: My favorite way to do grouse by far is to slice the breasts into fingers, then you either pan fry or grille em with olive oil and fresh garlic and cracked pepper and lay the grouse on a nice bed/pilaf of wild rice... :banghead: Damn! It dont get better than dat... Season's only seven months away, now why ja have to go and get me thinkin bout this now!   Thanx UncleDave!  Thanx alot! :banghead:     -thunderpout :cry:

I think I am going to try the old crockpot.  Slow cook it all day while at work.  Soup, spices, etc.  I am a lousy cook and I live alone.  I wing it and see how it comes out.

I am chowing grouse as we speak.  Mmm mmm.  I crock potted the heck out of it.  Got one in the pot for dinner.  Used beef & chicken broth, mushrooms, corn, this spice and that spice.  Nummy!
