With the water subsiding from Taylors Falls to Stillwater, the smallies continue to be very active.  Over the past couple of weeks they have been consistently caught in a few of the prime spots on the Croix for us.  Biggest smallie of the week, 3 pounds 11 ounces, was caught with a crankbait off a rock pile in 10 feet of water.  Many other 3 plus pounders were caught as well with varying tactics; senkos, topwater, drop shots and more.

If you enjoy active smallies now is the time on the Croix to start throwing early and often.  Time has not seemed to matter much as many of our big fish have been caught between 9 am and noon (and later).
