We used to visit the St. Croix State Forest which is not far from St. Croix State Park.  We love it up there and find lots of great hunting on the small lakes, pond and backwaters.  The area has everything we look for in a duck hunting trip: great hunting, camping and there is a casino nearby!!  However, the drive to get there is over 8 hours for us, and with young children at home, the three of us are looking for a closer place that has at least camping and nearby hunting.  We have a canoe and a 16' aluminum boat.  Oh, and by far and away, MN is the best experience we've enjoyed.  We've hunted WI and IL as well.

I've looked online at maps of south eastern MN and see there's rivers and a few areas that may work, but I'm hoping others can help us narrow the choices.

Thank you!!

Thanks!!  Sounds great.  What type of boat would we use?  We have both a canoe and a 16' deep V with a 35 hp on it.

Also, do you know if there are any state forest in that region?
