How long is venison good for?

How long is venison in the deep freeze good for? It was packaged in freezer wrap only.

The logest I have eer kept it is 1 year. It usually doesnt make it that long before it is eaten.

I know my uncle has eaten venision that was over two years old and it was fine.  It was just in freezer paper also.

Mine is also usually gone in way less than a year.

 A long time ago I had some that was pushing 2 years, we always double wrap our steaks and roasts, it was just fine.

well as long as its wrapped real well, and not taken out unthawed and then put back in the freezer im sure it will be good for a long time, usually doesnt last more than a year in my house anyways

Thanks everyone, Ours don't either but we had some given to us from some family members from last deer season, It looked okay but I wasn't for sure how long it lasted.

Venison doesnt have alot of fat in it, so it doesnt go as quick as beef... especially if wrapped pretty well.....  You guys need to get bigger deer so it lasts longer!

Usually If I have any venison left over from the prior year (which is rare) I will bring the steaks, chops, burger, what have you and have the butcher add that to the new deer this year.  They just add it, regrind everything and mix it all it like summer sausage, brats, beef sticks etc...

Last year I kept 2 deer here at home and they'er gone now.  If you actually bag more deer than you think you'll eat in a year, you may want to double rap it or think about canning it.
