Sure worried about him in the woods with a loaded gun. I'll be with him, but i Know how the fever is that first time and how bad u think everlittle movement is a animal. How do I get him ready for that moment.

If youll  be sitting with him all he needs is guidance and teach him patience and the rest will work it self out. I remember the thing my dad told me was "dont wait for the best shot and dont take a bad shot but take the first good shot".

Just have him be sure of what he is shooting at before he raises the gun.  It is also good to know what is behind the shot (have him imagine the path of the bullet in his mind before he pulls the trigger).

First of all welcome to MNO and thankyou for asking questions and posting. I don't want to scare you away from posting in the future, but i have a couple questions.

You are saying that this will be your sons first time carrying a loaded gun? Did you mean to say this will be his first time in the woods and hunting with a loaded gun?

Has he practiced shooting at a range or had any kind of practice with a gun, I'll assume he went through gun safety class allready?

Assuming he has went through gun safety class and has target practiced and knows how to handle a firearm, I would agree with the 2 other posts before this, just give him encouragement and teach him safety, let him know that we all miss, but as long as he practices safety first, he wil be sucessful.

If he has not learned how to handle a firearm yet or has never practiced shooting, I strongly suggest you get him to a range asap.

Good luck.
