Is a compuss part of the kitty family????   :rotflmao:  :rotflmao:

Sorry I just had to ;D

I would add to the list
rubber boots or hip waiters
ipod or other device to listen to music on your stand
warm hat, gloves, neck warmer
candy for on the stand
bread, jelly and peanut butter

My grandpa once bought me some camo toilet paper.  It was pretty cool.  I'm sure if you use it the deer would NEVER see it!!!!

I listen to my headphones every year.  I can't stand hearing the squirles running around!!  And I have shot most of my deer with some good tunes playing in my ears.  I keep it low enough that no one can hear it but me.  It helps make the time pass!!!

Is that how you get "tree service" out in the woods?

my list from top to bottom;
Gun
one shell for each tag
licenses
one match
blaze orange body paint and
duct tape

I think that should do it.
Only kidding. Deer camp for myself is at my grandpa's so mostly everything I need is there. Aside from some blaze orange etc.

No one mentioned two way radios.  No ipods or reading material for me.  I may closed my eyes and listen intently once in a while but for the most part I am standing and slowly turning checking every shadow or line I hadn't noticed before.  I usually search the area just beyond where you can see.  Sometimes the odd thing turns into a deer leg or ear.

Maybe I am out of line for saying this (since I have no experience hunting), but I would agree with deadeye on radios!  And maybe even a handheld gps with the camp marked on it.  Each year you hear of a hunter who gets lost/disoriented and sometimes it ends up bad.  So from my standpoint I'd have a small survival kit packed along with me at all times.

-2 way radio
-handheld gps
-waterproof matches
-whistle
-small mirror

I know it might sound like alot of extra stuff to bring along, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

A non survival item to bring might be binoculars?

my wife said it.... im OFFICIALLY ADDICTED to MNO!!

Woody,  If you bring the two way radio make sure it for getting out of the woods only.  It is illegal (unless it has changed) to talk on them to allert your partners that a deer is coming.  A few years ago the DNR was at our camp listening to some guys talk on them and was waiting for them to come off stand.

When I was a kid one of the guys in our hunting party would always give me a whistle each year.  Even if you know the land a person can become disoriented.

Thanks for the heads up Jewel!  I don't hunt so I wouldn't know about the rules and regs.  I guess that one makes sense though.  My thought was to contact someone on the hunting party in case you got lost/disoriented. I guess a person is better off leaving a trail of bread crumbs.  ;D
