My dad missed a doe and I saw a huge buck chase off a decent buck right into the sights of another hunter. O well, the big one is still out there. I also saw a doe and a coyote, everything was 400+ yards away and I was watching with binocs. I hope I get a shot tomorrow. Good luck everyone.

I was sitting with my 12 year old as he hunted and we finally saw a decent buck around noon.  Im tapping his leg and he turns to say "OH WOW!"     :oops1:   Umm the buck really appreciated that.  All I could do was grin, grab my True Talker and try to bring him back but no dice.  He had no idea he did anything wrong  :spongebob:  so I said nothing.  We'll try again Sunday.

If ya don't know where ya are, go back to da beginnin.

I think the weather really had the deer messed up today.  It was really windy up here in the northern part of the state.  I got two small deer tonight, but I think I just got lucky.  It is supposed to be colder tomorrow, but no wind so hopefully the deer will be moving a little more.

Zero.  But if it was easy, everyone would be hunting....

This guy came past at 6:45 am Saturday.  It was 24 degrees and I was in a stand fully exposed to the 25 - 35 mph north wind with falling precip, but I was prepared for that.  Still I was happy to finish early.  Nice doe walked past as I was dressing the buck.

Hey nice deer JoeFisherman!  I saw one doe opening morning and haven't seen anything since.  All are neighbors still have about 300 acres of corn still standing.  I think thats where there at?  And the wind doesn't help. But back at her in a but here!  Good luck to ya all!

This Buck was crossing the field on a mission about 8:15 this morning. Stopped him with a whistle to get this shot at about 25 yards. I saw one other small 8 and a couple of forks, all between 8:00 and 9:00 this morning. Nice Buck Joe, Congratulations.

Nice JoeFisherman!

Don Stenseth, I have never gone deer hunting.  Nice photo.

Out of curiosity, if you had a deer like Don's at that angle in your sights, where would you shoot it?

With a rifle I would shoot right through the front shoulder so that it woud exit behind the far shoulder hopefully takeing both lungs out. With a Bow I would not shoot. Bad angle.

I had a nice morning sit with a doe and two fawns and two scrub bucks out in front of me.  I watched them move around a couple of apple trees for 1/2 hour before the doe decided to come pay my freezer a visit ;D
I was dragging her down off the hill when a ran into a very nice wide, heavy horned buck at about 10 yards.  Never even got my gun up before he was out of sight.  Nothing last night, and nothing but mild hypothermia this morning.  Going out now for a quick night sit.

I took my mom hunting for the second time in 20 yrs trying to get her first deer and had a doe come running in at 100 yards and slipped into some standing corn before mom could get on her. So no deer for mom yet. I put a stalk on a bedded buck and doe from 300 yards in some crp and ended up shooting the buck at less than 30 yards. he's a 12pt. 16 1/2 inch spread, 5 inch bases, and very massive, not tall tined. really big bodied deer. will try and post pics but it says file size is to large. any help? thanks

I shot two bucks opening morning.  A 10 pointer, almost 11; and a basket 8 pointer.  I was gutting the 10 and the 8 was watching me around 60 yds out when I looked up.  I picked up the gun shot him mafia style threw the back of the head.  It was fun gun season.

Nice!  You should go buy a lottery ticket, pronto:)  (Or two of them).

Thanks.  Something like this has never happened to me before.  I was pumped.  I still am.
There was also someone that shot a nice 10 that was still in velvet!  I have never seen something like that before, this late in the year.  When I get that pic I will  post it.

I was sitting with my younger son Oober Ponage  :nerd:  this opening weekend.  We only saw one buck on opening day to which he said "OH WOW!"  Yeah the buck really appreciated that.  That's ok; I was 12 once too.

Then the weirdest part of our weekend was that on Sunday morning, we heard only 2 shots fired before noon.  As far as we could hear, there were only 2 shots fired. Hmmm.    He saw a buck on Sunday that we drove to him but he didn't have a clear shot of that either and thought it was between the drivers and him so he held back.  Later that day the sun came out and brought the deer with it.  We saw 5 does after 3 pm but he didn't have a clear shot of any of them.
No harm, no foul and we can try again another day.
If ya don't know where ya are, go back to da beginnin.

I got a shot off on a 10 ptr early Sat am but hit his shoulder as he turned instead of a good heart shot. We tracked a faint blood trail a couple hundred yards onto the neighbors property to the north and lost his trail at the river. I couple shots were heard within 15 minutes so I'm hoping the neighbors got him so I didn't leave an injured buck out there. We went back across the entire area twice before the end of day Sat and didn't find him so I can only hope someone else did.

We saw 14-18 Doe between Sat and Sun, over half of them were shooters but we decided that Sat we were gonna wait it out for one of the nice bigger bucks we have seen recently on our property.

Sun was very cold and windy so not much moving unless you pushed them around and when we did we couldn't get any clear shots on them so we'll head back out on Wed-Sun and see if we can't harvest a couple of the bigger Does to put some meat back in the freezer for the winter.

Sounds like there were mixed results for everyone across the area. If you're heading back out this week be safe and good luck to all !

Sunday evening two does came out of the corn and I dropped one and missed the other.  It was smaller than I thought it was but its meat.
