I was in SD by Brookings over weekend and my map lost all but main hwy detail. I changed my map detail to low and high with no change. As I went N toward Clear Lake the detail came back. I have a MN lake map chip in it. Is there not enough memory to hold detail, or is there a hole in the preloaded map in that area? Anybody else have that problem?

It is posible you were in the missle black out zone, an area where the government has the satalites blocked so civilian GPS's won't read right.

Not sure they still black out areas any more though?

Or if you load the data off a PC you didn't get the detail area large enough to cover that area.

nope, same happened to me when I went to black hills.  cut out right after I got past souix falls.  I think the detail roads is part of the mn chip.  and you lose it when you get to far away from MN.  I got the main highway 90, that is pretty much all in SD.
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

John is correct, I didn't realize you had said you had a MINN lakes chip in.

The chips must use a base map as a back ground and LM loads it's lake data over it,that's why it switched to a basic map of the highway system.
