Lake Minnewaska

Last weekend there was a good 10 inches of ice and I have received several calls for an ice up date..."are they driving on Waska yet?".

It has really been too cold to get any reports because not many have braved the cold.  Yesterday things picked up with some starting to head out.  My parents were out last night looking for panfish and said that none of the other houses around them were occupied.  Amazing!  I expect with the temps getting a little warmer that more will be heading out now.  Tomorrow and Saturday should be really nice.

I expect with how cold it has been there there should be 12 to 14 inches of ice by now.  Big houses (8x16, etc.) were going out two weeks ago so there should be no problem with big houses now either.  They were pulled out with ATVs before.  Last weekend there were some small cars and trucks out on the ice and I expect even more through this weekend.  Most are still using ATVs.

The walleye bite WAS good.  I have no idea what they are doing now since no one has really been out.  Panfish as well...but Waska always does well on panfish so I don't think that should be much trouble finding your 7 to 8 ounce sunnies.

I will post more updates as I have them.  Greatly appreciate hearing from others as well...seems like I am always talking to myself around here.  :whistling:

I understand what you mean.  Alot of people look, but very few replies.  I for one appreciate your reports.  :happy1:  Still hoping to get down that way someday soon.  :whistling:
