Ecollar question

I have a sportDOG e-collar.  For the first 6 months, it worked great.  Now, for the last 4 months or so it doesn't seem to be working.  I test it on myself (on low level) and it works.  However when I have it on my dog, she doesn't flinch.  this has become very annoying to say the least.  I can put it on for a full charge and still doesn't seem to work on her.  I feel like I have it on tight enough and I sure don't want to choke her, but can anybody offer any suggestions?  thanks.

I bet the points on the collar aren't making contact with the dog. sometimes they come with longer points you can put on to get through the fur.

hmmm.  are you zapping the dog when she's at a distance from the remote? maybe the remote battery is weak and works when you use it on yourself since your holding in one hand and zapping yourself with the other? otherwise your dog learned the jedi mind trick where she pretends not to get zapped just to mess with ya

funny you should mention that becuase as I was sitting in traffic tonight, I thought about that...I will test it..hopefully my wife won't turn it up on me when i am at a distance.  the remote always flashes which according to the book means it is low.. I might try to bring it back to Cabelas and swap it out..they exchange just about everything.

it's never a bad thing to take it back and get a new one and start over...

did that with the first wife.. the second one is working out much better

  yep could be remote battery or the shock just dont bother her no more, which can also be the case. but its a process of elimination, start with the collar after you get a new one and if it still happens then she's just running threw the shock.

Thats a fairly common thing with the S.D collars they seem to skip from time to time..Exp. if its the 1800 series

When the remote and collar are done charging, do you remove it immediately? 

One problem with chargers that supposedly stop charging when they are done, is they don't work.  I have ruined DeWalt batteries thinking that the charger had stopped, when in fact it was just wrecking the battery (left it on the charger for a couple of weeks). 

Anyway, the guys designing these charger circuits don't always come up with the best designs.

You should be able to slip 1 finger under the collar if it is tightened properly and make good contact with the dog.

Personally, I would not buy anything but Tri-Tronics

dogtra is all we use at the club, but i own a DT also which is a good one also.

I have a Dogtra, and love the thing.... especially the buzz/vibrate/page feature... use that 95% of the time instead of "stimulation".... and its pretty dang small, which is really nice also...

The Dobbs have a good collar( DT) but Tritronics is still the best all around, I have them all, but always go back to tritronics and use them everyday with no issues

I had a similar problem, The collar would work on low but not higher levels, sent it back and it turned  out to be broken  . I noticed it when we had guest visit our home and my lab would not listen. Wired thing was he listened great in the field, never would have known it was not working on higher levels if the guest would not have came
