I know there are a lot of members who want to take that "dream trip" somewhere to hunt or fish.?

Please share with the group what and where you would like to go.

If you have already taken your dream trip, please share that info with us.

I will go first.

My dad and I have never been Elk hunting.  My dream trip will take place 5 years or more into the future.  By then, my younger son will be old enough to go with.  We want to go Elk hunting in the Mountains of Montana.  It will be me, my dad, and my two boys.

It will go something like this...

Morning will come early. After breakfast you will meet the staff that will take you into the Wilderness. You will be set up with your own horse for the 3 night 4 day pack trip. Watching and participating in packing the horses will be enjoyable.

This day you will also learn horsemanship skills. After about a 9 mile horseback ride you will find our base camp at 8000 feet. In the base camp your 14x17 wall tent is dry, roomy and warm. Your lunch is prepared in our 18x23 cook tent complete with running hot and cold water. The shower tent, toilet tent, sleep tent and cook tent are all heated and equipped with propane lanterns. An evening ride is a nice way to wrap up the day.

Next Day: The sun rises around 6:30 the air is crisp and fresh. This time of the year there are no biting flies and the weather is generally mild. Not to hot and not too cold.    A variety of activities are available such as riding to the top of some peaks which will put you around 10900 feet were you can see Mountain Goats, Raptors, and some spectacular scenery. A camera is a must.

Next Day: After breakfast, a day ride into one of our high mountain lakes is both enjoyable and scenic. Seeing elk, moose, bear, and wolves are not uncommon. This time of the year elk are in the rut and hearing bugling along with wolves howling is common in the mornings and the evenings.  The guide will lead you to harvest the Elk of your dreams.

Next Day: After a hardy breakfast your guide will take you to one of many places that best suits your interests. In the afternoon we will get on the trail and ride back to the ranch. Your cabin still awaits you and the evening can be enjoyed with fishing, or relaxing in your cabin and sharing stories of your successful dream hunt.

I hope my dream trip will come true soon.......

I want to take a trip to Canada where I fly out of the Twin Cities to the middle of Ontario with my kids (when they get a bit older) for a 5 day hunting and fishing trip.? When we land at the airport, we will be met by a rep. from the resort and they will drive us to the lodge where we will have a hot meal waiting for us and a cold High Life Light waiting for me next to my plate.? After our meal, we will be put up in a log cabin for the night with a warm fire going.? The next morning we wake up about 0600, go to the lodge for a hot stack of pancakes and a hot cup of coffee.? We then venture out with our guide in canoes to find our ideal camping spot, which would be right on the shore under some of the biggest trees up there.? We then set out for a day of walleye and smallmouth fishing while taking in the scenery of moose on the edge of the shore drinking water and the site of eagles flying over us.? Around 4 pm, we head towards shore to get our bows and head to the tree stands in the hopes of having a deer getting close enough for a kill shot.? After dark, we head back to the camp where we start a campfire where we cook up some of the walleye we caught that day and some chops from the deer.? After filling our bellies, we sit around the campfire (with another cold High Life) while the guide tells us some stories from past expeditions he's had, while listening to the crickets and wolves howl in the background, having the moon shining down on us, and not a mosquito in sight.?

My dream hunt would be a trapping trip in remote alaska for a yr.

I talked to a guy once who did it for 5 yrs. In that time span he seen three people, each only once. That is not counting his bush pilot who he seen a couple times a yr.

I'm not saying I'm unsocial but it's somthing I'd like to do for a yr. Imagine nothing to worry about cept keeping urself and ur transportation (dogs) fed. Oh and don't forget a good winter wood supply.

When would it happen? Never will as family and 20 yr notes put a damper on that.

Something like that should mandate no weapon.

I wanted to take one with a hand thrown spear before. When I checked into the regulations I made a call down to St. Paul to see about a permit for that. About four days later I received a letter explaining that they didn't issue any permits for hunting big game with handthrown spears. They also took the time to explain that they had no intention of doing so in the future. ???  This was about 17-18 yrs ago, so things might have change for anyone who'd like an experience. ;D
