Incase you have not heard yet Matt Birk signed with Baltimore today for 4 yrs and 12 million.  I think the Vikings made a huge mistake by not getting him for the rest of his career at 3 million a season.  I am pretty tired of the Minnesota sports scene lately and this pretty much put me over the edge.

yea this was pretty idiotic not to many ppl are happy with it. they should of never let him get on that plane to baltimore. i knew he was gone when they let him visit there. plus a buddy of mine who has inside sources said birks house has been up for sale for months. they never made a effort to sign him. if a player speaks up against how childress coachs he doesnt remain on the team anymore. so childress is a dumb  :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:

His loss is going to be felt, I don't know who the Vikes have waiting in the wings but he will be hard to replace. ESPN is reporting that the money was very close but Birk chose to leave. Must be some of them in house little things we don't hear about. Center is an important clog in the O line since he calls blocking patterns, No one ever said Birk was stupid.. Going to make AD's job a little harder running to.

What are they thinking! They try to bring in a QB that may help us win then let the core of the line that protects him go. Sometimes I wish I was a Packer fan.

the SAD fact of the matter is that birk doesnt think the vikings are going to do anything to get the team better to win a super bowl that is why he left cause he figures his only chance to win a bowl is with some other team i guess i cant blame him

Every time they try to build a team they start sacrificing other ares and positions. Two things after last year that we needed were a qb and wr's. We have the running game, o line and defense. Now we start to work on wr's and a qb and now we are loosing our o-line.....  :bonk:

I agree its gonna be tough to replace a veteran center,  the toughest line player to replace, O or D... but the QB's were getting throttled all season, and it wasnt through Hutchinson, and it wasnt allways around the ends.... I think the powers that be were lookin at it like this... Older athelete in his last few years/decline, wanting top dollar.... two young guys unexperienced but able to fill most of Birks shoes.... and $$$$ saved to use on other holes in the squad.  Thing that sucks is Birk's a MN boy... makes for some bad feelings with us fans... remember, Birk came out of nowhere and suceeded when Christy went out the door after the knee injuries....he didnt get weened in.... Welcome to the cold, buisness like age of modern football I guess.... Plus when ya dont have a legit starting QB do ya really need to be payin out big $$$ for a veteran OL?  I would either get some young talent that will grow with the young QB's it looks like we'll have, or go the free agent route when we find something better, otherwise its like gold plating a rusty nail, eh? ;)
