How many guys and gals are planning on bow hunting turkey this year? I just got out my bow this weekend to get it all ready to go out and shoot. I practice a lot in the spring and summer. Shooting from chairs and kneeling and also from my ground blind. Hunting turkeys with a bow is a lot of fun. When you shoot a turkey with a bow the rest of the turkeys don't even know what is going on. It is fun to watch them and if you have a buddy with . He can shoot one too. I am thinking on using the Gobbler Guillotine or the Magnus Bullhead Broadhead.

I have a feild just like that on any givin day. On thursday afternoon I counted 50+ out in the feild the only problem is the bow season comes so late that it can be hard to get the gobblers to respond but I am going to give it a try anyway!

Last year when we bow hunted them. They were coming to the calls. We had a lot around us. I can't wait till it is time. I am going to hunt out of my double bull blind this year. I am going to put it on the edge of the field. Last year I was behind some pine trees and that worked well too. They didn't even know I was there.

I've been practicing out of the blind sitting, kneeling, 30+ yard shots in hopes of a gobbler stepping out in range. I will be out the last two weekends like any other archer, and hopefully will get something to come in.

Good luck everyone!

I just got my first bow for bowfishing and I have to say I'm addicted! I plan on buying another one for turkey and possibly deer hunting. I like the challenge and I don't think I would ever hunt deer or turkey with a gun.

KT I hear ya.

I'm from a little different breed of hunter as I didn't start hunting until 19, or 20 and it was with a bow which got me addicted right away. Don't get me wrong though, I have taken a few animals with a gun which was a blast, but it just isn't that same as seeing the deer in that many different seasons (bow is sept-december) with the green of the trees, to the winter snow in december.

Good luck in your newfound addiction, I am sure you can get plenty of insight from all the members in the future!  :happy1:

Shot my first turkey with the bow on Friday in Wisconsin.  25lbs, 10 inch beard, 1-1/8 inch spurs.  The spitfire xp's did a number on him.

you know drummer it only takes like 5 min for them to put the peep back in the string it shouldn't affect you for a couple days maybe a couple hours at most and it only costs like 5 bucks so it shouldn't hurt your pocket either

I can't wait . I have one more week before I can get out and get my a turkey. Bow season is next week already. It will be a blast. I am going to start to get my gear ready. I have been out with my bow for the last few weeks and is dead on up to 50 yards. Here is what I am going to look for .

I went out Friday to start my Turkey hunt with my new Gobbler Guillotine and camcorder to film my hunt!

I did stay out in the blind from 4 am to 7:45 pm and filmed several Toms with hens. After the rain I saw 7 different groups with there own leader Tom.

It was unbelievable!
All the Toms stayed 50 to 60 yards out Friday and Saturday, unless they where on the refuge side then they would come with-in 10 feet of the blind (can not shoot Turkey on the refuge)

With the Guillotine for me I was limited to 25 maybe 30 yards, so Saturday night I put my normal arrows on and sighted in up to 60 yards, I also had my friend that was going to video tap for me go to the other blind to ensure one of us got a Tom.

Sunday morning the Turkey where Gobbling all over the place, 7AM a group of Toms game in on the same trail 50 yards out, but the leader came in at 40 yards. As you can see the Bowtech put the smack down on this Tom. I wish I could of got the kill on video but glad to get this nice Tom.
Beard 10 1/2 inches. spears 1 inch estamated wight (bathroom scale) 28 to 30 lbs.
I wish I would have had this scored! not knowing anything about scoring Turkey a guy at work thinks it would have been scored at 70, what would have been great for the archery books

Nice bird 101.

I just about got blown away Sat. am with the wind. Let me tell you I am glad I tethered my blind down the night before or it would have been in Michigan overnight.

No toms, couple jakes came into my decoys, that's it.

Congrats on the bird!  I blew my chance on Sunday morning.  Thinking he was in line with my decoy, I used the 20 yd pin and hit him low.  Drew blood and feathers by he got away.  He was about 8 yards farther than I thought.
Real bummer.

The best part about Bow hunting is we get 14 days to figure out a way to get the job done.

I hope all you Bow hunters get your Tom this weekend  :archery:

Thanks
