Figured I'd post most of my Ontario bucks here. All harvested not too far North of Minnesota. Speaking of which, the areas north of Duluth look pretty sweet. Kind of always wanted to try a hunt in Minnesota, maybe 2010.

150-6/8 Net. 11pts. Harvested in 2005. Fleming Rd in Rainy River district close to Off lake. During the peak of the rut. I spotted him while driving at mid day during the snow storm looking for fresh tracks to follow. I kept going and slowed. Let him continue to walk out as he was facing the road when I saw him. I guessed right and plugged him at about 150 yards while I sat down beside my truck.

140-2/8 Net. 10 pts. Harvested in 2006. Took this guy close to a bait site. I just blew one grunt and he showed up soon after. He walked right underneath me. Case of the wind almost being right for him but not quite as the trail I was watching was almost downwind as he headed upwind toward the bait site still 75 yards away. Shot on land I now own with Deb north of Emo.

168-4/8 Net. 10 pts. harvested in 2003. Big Thunder Bay buck. I wrote a story about him and it should be in the articles section. I was lucky that day.  The Buck that Jumped in the River

154-7/8 Net. 12 pts. Harvested in 2007. Last years buck. The one in our team logo. I harvested him on my property in Emo. That was a very special buck to us. Had two years of trail cam pics of him. Only a handfull though. I got into a stand I set the day before mid-morning and he appeared only 15 minutes later at about 100 yds in a shooting lane I brushed axed the day before. I wasn't planning on hunting the spot so quick but the wind was perfect and I had a good feeling about that location.

A few honourable mentions.

137"  8pts. 12 inch G2's and 10 inch G3's. 2004 buck from Thunder Bay that I didn't have self portrait capabilities yet. I called him in during a still hunt in a light breeze blowing in his direction. Single grunt call.

A 150 class 9 pointer with broken tine. 2002. Very long tines, thin on mass. 19" inside spread. East of Thunder Bay. Called him in with the combination of grunt tube esterous can and rattling all at once. I was still hunting a hydro line.

2001. First deer ever. First big game animal. Thunder Bay. Again one grunt and he came running on a cold early november morning. This deer created a monster....good buy migratory game, good buy bush chickens....hello four legged critters.

LOL. I hear quite a few swim the Rainey River during the hunting season. Sometimes getting the heck out of Minnesota and sometimes getting the heck out of Ontario...lol.

I hunt mostly crown land and many of those areas are open to non-residents self guided. Some areas are a little crowded and some are not. A lot of remote big bush with mature bucks.

If your interested in Ontario hunting shoot me a PM. I am not a guide and not do I want to be but I can surely point you in the right direction and give you the info you need.

Now I'm here cause I want to learn about Minnesota hunting. Historically Minnesota is the top state for trophy bucks. It has been recent years that states like Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio and Wisconsin have taken off. What's up with that anyway?

I like to think it is because big racked Minnesota bucks were transplanted there.

Great looking deer Renegade. Welcome! :happy1:
Marry an outdoors woman. Then if you throw her out into the yard on a cold night, she can still survive.

That is a possiblity. Keep in touch with me then for sure. I have done somw swap hunts in the past and it has always been awesome. Remember hosting a great bunch from Iowa and I still haven't gone there hunting although they still invite me down. Truth be told, I really enjoyed having them come up hunting with me. I'll post about that adventure if I can find the post at OTB.
