I'm assuming you are wanting to can them to preserve for fishing maybe bring into canada.

I have never done it but don't see why you couldn't just put them in a good heavy salt brine. An idea might be to fishoil/salt brine rather than a water/salt brine. Give it some scent that way too but careful has an odor to it. Not the fishoil commonly used by trappers which is often just rotten fish juice but pure fishoil. Just a thought I had.
