We are counting down to the end of the access to the lake. With all of this warm weather, the shoreline will be inaccessible in the next week or so, if not sooner. If you plan on coming up, make sure you bring your 4 wheelers. Then you will be able to still get off of the lake if the shoreline goes to hell. The bite is still here, there were a couple of days this week that the perch were not in a biting mood, but that is fishing for ya. I was out this morning and had my limit by 11:30 of very nice 11 to 12 inch perch and I was being very selective on what I kept or I would have been done by 9:30 with 9 to 10 inch perch. It is a day to day gig, you know my old saying; you can not catch them on the couch. So get off the couch and get on the bucket.

This will be the last weekend that I will have the Bar and Grill open for the winter season. We will not reopen until May 1. It has been a long, cold and very bad economic time for Rocky Reef. I am just glad that it will soon be open water and we will see what the summer season has in store for us. So if you want to get one last chance to catch the jumbo perch, this weekend will be it, at least out from my access. Then you will have to find another place to get onto the lake. I just do not want to worry about getting people of off the lake anymore this season. I predict that we will have ice out by the 15 or 20 of April this year. There is still plenty of ice on the lake, but the shoreline will start to melt off pretty fast, especially if we get the rain this Sunday and Monday.

I would like to say Thank You to everyone who patronized Rocky Reef Resort this season. Without you, there would be no Rocky Reef Resort. I wanted you to know how much Patti and I have appreciated your business over the past 20 years and hopefully we will be here for you in the future. Who can tell what is in store for us all, with the economy being what it is, BAD it is hard to predict where we will be in a year. I hope you all can keep your jobs and will have a future to look forward to, sometime soon.

Be safe

We will see ya
