does anyone have one of these?  if so, do you like it?  I just picked one up today and got on the Lowrance website... only to find they're discontinued.  I'm just worried about that nice big LCD screen taking a crap.

thanks,
Andy

I'm not an expert but I really doubt Lowrance manufactures the screen. If it chits out, take it out and see who makes it. You could probably replace it.

Correct me if i'm wrong but is the 522 have the internal gps antenna? I have heard nothin good about those units to tell you the truth . I do believe if it craps out you will be able to trade it in or get something equal or lesser value type deal through lowrance.

yes it does have the internal GPS antenna, I'm stoked to put it in the boat, just wanted to make sure it was a good one since it was kind of an impulse buy.  the salesman told me I could get it for $499 today only, how could I pass it up?

I have the 522c on my boat and I love it I have had no problem with it. I have console steering with a wind shield. I have been told to keep it clear of the windshield cause it could cause interference.

i had two of them in my boat and the internal gps sucks.  going in and out all the time.  i had them on ram mounts clear of everything and they would lose contact for 10 to 15 min at a time.   the sonar part was great but gps no good.   hope your are better

eh well I appreciate the honesty burky, I took the display model off of "demo" mode and it picked up GPS signal just fine inside the store.. tin roof and all.  I wonder if there is a way to add on a GPS antenna?
