If anyone is debating about getting a new engine i would look no further then an E-Tec.  I've owned an old chrysler 2 stroke, then graduated to a 80's Evinrude 60 horse 2 stroke.  Then 2 a Mercury four stroke, and for the last year my new boat has a 115 E-Tec.  This thing was the best decision i have ever made (yes i know it's early).  But so far this thing is quieter and consumes less fuel then my four stroke ever did.  The power is unreal.  I know you have to had oil to the res, but Changing oil on the 4 stroke took longer then every time I had to had oil to the E-Tec all together for the year.

You are right about the E-Tech General, I have a 200 HP on my boat love it.
The only drawback is the price of the oil if you buy it from a dealer mine requires XD 100
40.00 a gallon. Also if you run Lowrance products there is a data link that you can hook
up. It will give you all the Data that you need to know. Like gallons per hour you are
burning, hours on the motor and "ECT" My opion is the best motor out there

i don't know what merc you have but mine dose not shake really at all it i have NEVER a nother motor the same size that is as quite as mine sometimes people don't even know it is running  :happybounce:
and i would rather change my oil once a year for about 20 bucks rather then us oil that is $40 for a gallon i don't think i well ever own a 2 stroke and its better for the lake its not burning the oil

Actually an E tec is MORE environmentally friendly then any boat motor built today i believe.  The oil mix for the E Tec can be set at 100:1 so it doesn't burn much oil at all.  Plus that 20 bucks for an oil change may be true if you don't bill for your time.  Funny (I do it too, but not often) how people always forget to include opportunity cost when figuring out prices.

i think we need to keep in mind that my motor is 7 years old with a lot of houres on it and we are comparning it to a brand new e tec  lol im not trying to say the e tec is a bad motor never i have never used or been in a boat with one
