Was at an auction yesterday that had about 80 guns and a hayrack full of reloading stuff. You'd never guess there is a recession going on. I didn't watch all the guns sell but enough to know I shouldda brought my guns there. Most IMO went for top dollar but some went higher. Seen many guns go for well over new price.

One in particular went for 275% of the new price but that was just a high powerered air rifle. Another side by side that was completely pit rusted went for $125. I tlaked to the guy who got it an he said he wanted a ol beater to saw it off. Well my thoughts are for another 75 bucks he could have had a new one to saw off.

I was only interested in a couple guns there but ended up not even getting a chance to raise my hand. Both went for more than I was willing to spend and above top dollar. Yes I am a tight wad my limit was less than top dollar. For the abuse it would be taking I just can't justify paying too much.

The reloading stuff went decent. Some high and some low. A box of about 15 cans of powder of mixed varieties with some nearly empty and others never opened went cheap as did the other boxes of powder.

The bullets for the most part went cheap except the 22 cals and some pistol bullets. I managed a steal on about 2500 270, 7mm,8mm bullets for $60. The 8mm for which I have no use were sold within a minute after by someone who wasn't paying attention. Well come to think of it I don't have a use for the 7mm either, guess that gives me a reason to buy another gun. I did miss out on another 1500 270's thinking I had the bid at $40 guess it was someone else who had them at 40.

The primers went high as I figured they would. To my surprise most of the presses also went high. He had enough of them I thought they might go cheap. Brass went both ways but you had to watch what you were buying as some was misslabeled. The owner who passed had most everything labeled accurately but the family and auction staf wasn't as accurate. There were some bags of 219 zipper brass that was labeled 30-30. Which is understandable because on the bottom of the casings it says 30-30, whoever labeled them just didn't know much about it.

Dies went both ways with the wildcats being the higher. Kindda hard to tell as they were selling batches of 4-10 different die sets to a box. Some were never used and others were. There was lots of other reloading stuff that was there for those who were interested. For what it's worth there was more money on the reloading rack than was in the 80 guns. It was a fun auction and I managed a few deals.

auctions are a strange place. especially for guns, and tools. it's almost like people loose their minds when they come up.

Yep, just like on the different car auctions on TV.... people get in that groove and cant let go and take a step back to reason.... and the auctioneers LOVE it when that happens!

did anyone go to the DNR gun auction? there was a lady on the news that paid 450$ for a 30-06.
