Couple buddies and I hit the river at 5 AM out of Prescott. Was a very nice morning indeed. We started out just south of the launch around the marina and didn't manage much to write home about. One of my buddies had a fish to the boat within ten minutes, but since it wasn't a sheephead, he didn't manage to boat it!!  :doah: Stayed there till around 7 as we were marking a lot of fish. After a while there we decided to move. Met up with some friends who were doing really well by some boats. We fished around them for a while and managed some bites, but no fish in the boat.

We trolled our way up the confluence and around some other docks. After a little bit the bite was on for us!!   We found a fireball and fathead were producing the best. One of my buddies was the first on the board with a really nice keeper. Didn't take too long and he had another. Then Rui and I doubled on a rock bass a piece. We hung around there till about 10:30 this morning. I managed a couple of nice keepers there.

We moved up the Croix and tried out luck at a few spots. Limited bites up there, though one of my buddies who guides as well was pulling in some small ones. We fished up on the croix for a little while and decided to fishish off the day back were we had out luck. Only thing managed one more smaller keeper but we ended the day with six in the box so not a bad opener at all.

Seems the river was a little slower than most openers. One buddy called and they had a 28 incher that was full of eggs. I thought the spawn would be over already but there might be some still out there.  I think the fishing will just keep getting better down there.

I'll be out Tuesday night with a guide trip and hopefully find a few more.
Friends are like buttcheeks..........crap might separate them, but they come together in the end.
