Anyone know if it's legal to spear carp in Minnesota?

its a rough fish you can spear em all you want.. just don't get caught leaving them on the shore.

Spearing carp is fun. When i was a youngster me & my buddies would go
to Minnehaha Falls in St. Paul & spear carp. Those were the the good old days

I just went bowfishing for the first time last weekend in Iowa.  We checked out this one spot and someone had left seriously about 30 carp all over the land and in the water just sitting there rotting.  It must have been just the day before because one of the carp was all dried up and still breathing.  It was disgusting!

depends on what your using but I always found a long piece of rope with a spike on the end was nice.. then you can drag em behind ya as ya walk along the shore. we used to give em to the hmong on the shore by the river when we left then we didn't have to bury em in ma's garden when we got home.

We smoked one of the Carp we got, wasn't too bad...

When you smoke the carp do the bones in the fish kind of soften and aren't noticeable?

The brine will dissolve some of the smaller bones, but just like with any other fish, it wont be entirely boneless...

Cut out the mudlines in the roughies and they aint half bad smoked. Ill still take my michigan kings, bwcaw lakers or december gill netted whiteys first!

I'd have to check again but I think there is a time when you can't spear them. May first or June first something like that. Not shur I'd have to check again. I know you can't spear suckers until they are done spawning the way they have the date set.
