Dos anyone know anything about the elk hunt if you get drawn for it where do you hunt is there public land up there where they roam and you can hunt. I really like elk and would like the oppurtunity to hunt one.

I think the DNR has a mandatory class if you are selected. otherwise colorado has a "no quota" zone you can get in on. we went a few years back for about 1200$ each, including hotel and license. of course we didn't get anything, but we had fun... and we did see a bunch, just nothing legal

I am not sure about the public land up there. I recall reading somewhere to try and get land owner permission to hunt up there. The article made it sound like the farmers hate the elk because of the damage they cause to the crops in the area.

It should be no problem to get permission for a Minnesota elk. you just ask around and a farmer will let you take one off one of the hay bales they climb up on to eat and crap on

Ken is right. If you ask around you will be able to find some land to hunt Elk on up North. There is some public land in the area, but private permission would be the way to go. Plus the locals will know the areas they come out to feed at. There are some very solid bulls up there too.
