The daytime walleye bite continues to be strong on the mud flats for those who know the lake.  The time has come to pull out your spinner rods and hook up a night crawler and cover some ground.  Drift or troll the top of the flat for keeper walleyes at a speed of 1 to 1.5 mph watching your electronics for fish and bugs.  The key for this type of fishing is to keep your line at a 45 degree angle to the water and do not drag the mud.  This type of fishing allows the angler to cover more ground to locate fish. If you bomb out on the spinner rig go with live bait rigging over the walleyes you previously marked.

Tip of the week:  Keeping your bait fresh is a must when you are on the water.  Store your leeches in a small cooler and change the water throughout the day when fishing.

Night crawlers need to be kept out of the sun and in a cooler with ice. Proper care of your bait will put more fish in the boat

Good Luck and we'll see you on the water!
