Is there any reason to use a deer call this early? Would they even work? Or should I just put a scent out?

i say calls and scents will wwork anytime of the year. deer are very curious animals and will come just to check it out, may not always be during shooting hours with scents but chances are they will check it out. i would try soft grunts, nothing to challenging right now, there still in there summer pattern and wont be rubbing or scraping for atleast another month. if your trying to gain a edge on the deer i would try just setting up on a heavily used trail that leads to a food source would get you the most action for the first couple of weeks. deer have 3 periods in there day i call it bed area transition area(travel corridor) and food source.
