Friday Sept 25th Lake Geneva Report, :fishing:

Scheduled for three people today, but one dropped out, so It was long time clients Steve Smorkol and his partner Bruce. Now Bruce is our on going long time champion pike miester and today was no exception. The pike were few and far between on this day when trolling so Bruce decided to catch his pike on crawlers this trip. One of today's northerns had such beautiful distinctive markings I had to post a photo of it. It also had one blind eye. Meanwhile Steve had the hot hand on the smallmouth today. It was the first trip that the trolling wasn't paying off for us so we abandon that strategy early.

Our smallmouth action was one here and one there while never catching more than two smallies in any one spot. We mostly anchor fish today using crawlers in 26 ft and casting into 19 ft off a sharp break line. Let's hope the smallmouth fishing picks up when the true fall weather sets in. Last fall was a big disappointment as far as the big smallie feeding frenzy goes and as much as I hate to say it this Sept is looking very similar to last years so far. Time will tell and for now it's a wait and see game with a lot of anticipation by the anglers.

***A fish, which you can't see, deep down in the water, is a kind of symbol of peace on earth, good will to yourself. Fishing gives a man ... some time to collect his thoughts and rearrange them kind of neatly, in an orderly fashion. Once the bait is on the hook and the boat is anchored, there's nothing to interfere with thinking except an occasional bite.

See ya on the water,
