A small piece of electrical tape lightly over the end of the muzzle would keep anything out.

Lucky it didn't split all the way back up to the lug or it might have split his face wide open.
Take a kid hunting and fishing... It'll be the best thing for generations to come.

Condom works better. Might have some explaining to do but it is an effective way of keeping your barrel clear.
