Lake Geneva  Thursday 10/29/09 report

It looks like the race for the championship is all but over :surrender:

Borgie :queen: and I decide to give it one last shot on Lake Geneva yesterday and the sun did not shine on us all day. Neither did the northern pike. We pretty much went thru the same drill as Tuesday trying for that one last big pike of the season, but It was not to be for us.

We realized it was a waste of time around 12:30 pm and decided to see if we could stir up a few smallies. We were still able to manage some action near the old academy site anchoring in 26 fow giving us access to a range of 23 to 31 ft to cover. Crawlers were still working with leeches producing nothing. Lots of small perch in the area and our best bass was 19 inches. Borgie was so tired at the end of the day that I had to give her a rubdown.

Areas of the flats were holding very large clumps of floating dead vegetation even more so than the 2 days prior. We were talking to a fellow that lives on Linn road and he told us about a body pulled out at Linn pier launch on Wednesday. Details were not given other than no foul play was suspected and the guys truck had been parked at the launch for 3 days.

**This is only what I was told so details my be confusing. Investigation is ongoing at this time.

See ya on the water, (next year)

Lee

** Childhood memories are fickle at best, especially from the distance I recall them, and today I have no real idea how big that first fish was. I know that at twelve years old, the head of the fish was by my shoulder as I carried it down the beach with my hand in its gills, its tail dragging on the ground. Mind you as I walked back, past all the grown-up anglers, I was at least ten feet tall, and by regular account, "Always was a lucky little fisherman." I guess I am a lucky fisherman. That fish hooked me for life. A life that has seen a major part devoted to fishing. There is a belief among many fishermen, that their God has decreed that every day spent fishing is added to your allotted life span. If true, I should live to fish till I am about 150. Lucky, indeed!
