This season, I found an area where a moose lives.  Awesome.  Man those hoof prints are huge.  And a huge dung pile, too.  I got out of the area quick, though, because the prints and scat were pretty fresh, and I didn't want to come face to face with a moose.  Besides, I saw no evidence whatsoever of deer in the area.  Marked it on my GPS in case I ever win the moose license lottery.

What part of the state?
Marry an outdoors woman. Then if you throw her out into the yard on a cold night, she can still survive.

I also found a couple of huge piles of moose poo and tracks west of Grand Rapids.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

It's on public land, and there was a poorly but recently built stand nearby.  I am too cheap to put a camera there:)  But it would be cool if somebody else did.

I would advise everyone to stick away from leaving camera's out in the public forests. Too many thieves/ie tweakers who feel the need that anything left out in the woods needs to go home with them.

I often come across moose sign in the area I deer hunt.  My cousin found a shed in the past.  I see beds, tracks and scat all over the place.  I have seen a cow.  Others in my hunting party have had the occasional moose scamper by their stands.  It is pretty exciting!

Really?  In the immediate area I found the moose, I found no signs of deer.

Yes.  This year in State Forest Area we hunt, I saw a few piles moose skat, tracks, beds.  Another area we scouted, had a ton of moose beds, piles & piles of skat, tracks right along with tons of deer skat, beds and tracks.  There have been moose in the area for several years and they do not seem to effect the deer population in the area.

Cool.  I guess I should have looked for deer sign more.

Moose are fun to watch. When I used to hunt up by Thief river falls at Agassiz wild life area we used to see lots of moose. They were always interesting to watch. They used to be plentiful up there until they got that disease. The population went way down the last years we went there. I always saw about 8 to 10 in the 4 days we hunted. I miss seeing that now that I hunt in central MN . I saw one once that you could almost lay in the antlers. What a bruiser. They seemed to know when they are being hunted. We got drawn for the lottery and it was a whole different ballgame.  We ended up with a smaller one, but still a nice animal.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.  If
