Update:5:30 pm 1/03/10
I just had 6 different groups of guys stop in after fishing since this morning. They had a slower bite this morning until about 11;00am but they did catch some walleyes and some nice 10 and 11 inch perch out in 28 to 30 ft in the silt, but by 2:30 this afternoon, the bite was on until just after sunset. they were in anywhere from 17 ft of water down to 25 ft. just off of the back of my rentals using fat heads on bobbers with a glow hook, and a # 3 pimple in the gold and orange and the silver and orange. They all had at least one limit if not 2 limits of 15 to 17 inch walleyes with a couple of 25 and 24 inchers that they released also. I guess I should have waited just a little longer to do the report hey? So, we may be on our way out of the tight lip syndrome so we can get back to catching fish like it was 3 days ago. I will see for myself tomorrow I have dedicated my day to rental house fishing, I am going in the morning to check it out, and then again in the afternoon into the evening until about 6:00pm. I will update you tomorrow after I get in, i was pretty pumped to here the reports from the portable fisherman tonight and wanted to share it with you.

I am sure glad that we did not get any more snow than we did last week. I was out on Saturday plowing off a couple of new cross roads, heading towards the second reef, and it was stuck down so bad that you had to break it up with the V plow first before you could move it with a straight blade. With this super cold snap, the ice did just that, it started to snap. As it gets super cold, the ice contracts and starts to fracture up the middle of the exposed roads and then the heavy banks start to bend the middle of the roads as the wind row it self starts to break off and flood. So, of course with the coldest weekend this winter, on Saturday night I was out with the crew, in the  30 below temps at 9:30 pm putting out  gas cylinders  and caution tape, on the roads and blocking to block off other parts of the roads. trying to keep people off of the fishers that were starting to open up over 2 inches wide and were starting to spit water. We did get through it though and with no major incident , just a couple of frozen vehicles. we towed them off the lake on got them plugged in on shore and about 2 hours later they were up and running. The bad news is, that the bite took a major dump, with the arctic high that moved in on Thursday, even the hot spots were not giving up many fish. You could get them to come up after the bait, but they just did not want to bite. Of course, once again, just in time for the weekend when a lot of you to made the trip up to get in on the very good bite that we had going this past week. with the bad bite and the terrible cold temps it was a tuff weekend for us all. I think that when the weather starts to level out, the bite will be back. I will be out this week fishing in the rentals and will give you an update on when the bite picks back up again. Thanks to all of you that made the trip up to the reef and spent you hard earned cash with us this past frozen weekend. It looks like we are going to warm up later on this week so i do expect the bite to return. If you did go out of here this weekend, give me an email with your reports.
