Anyone going out...

I know that ducks open up this weekend  :P :P but is anyone heading out fishing at all?  My buddy is hunting ducks so he can't go to Mille Lacs for Jumbos and walleyes, I might have to settle with going fishing with my brother and his buddy fishing for BASS...  ??? ???  BLAHHHHH  You can't eat those...

I am also hoping to head out this weekend on Sunday for one last run to the river.? Hopefully bring some minnows along and hunt for some walleyes.? But my main goal is to get Alex on some of the great smallies the river has to offer.

I'd like to get out one last time before I winterize the boat. I hear the eyes were biting on the St Croix the other day, at least until that cold front moved in.

It'd be pretty sweet to catch a few Wallys and Smallies Sunday.  I should pick up a few things.  Do the smallies bite better on any particular plastics on the 'sip.?

I use large tubes with large hooks and small jig heads.  Like maybe 1/8 oz.  The tube doesn't jig up and down it glides and when you pause it does plumit to the bottom.  I am going to hit the miss in the city on Saturday so we'll see if it works.  I have never fished them this late in the year.

Plastics - White Tubes, Creature Type Baits, Crawdad color, Craw's
Hard - Crawdad crankbaits, Top Water Poppers,  Zera Spooks, Hooks for tubes and sliding weight to drag along the bottom.

Pick up a dozen or so fatheads and we will jig a few spots.  Per the latest report from my source the smallies have been hammering the live bait, but I catch enough of those on the plastics and hard baits.  But I suppose catching too many smallies is a good problem to have. 

PS - Bring warm clothes it's going to be cool.  Maybe I will pack the Mr heater.  ::)
