My group of seasoned ice anglers hit the ice this past Saturday with sunny skies and light winds with high hopes of a big day.  We fished the mud flats with jigging spoons tipped with minnow heads and wax worms.  We worked the deep edges of the flats and had fish on the Vexlar all day long from hole to hole the small perch were active but could not make good contact, with just a handful of jumbos and few small walleyes.  While writing this report I realized that a tuff day on the ice is way better than sitting on shore.  I guess a person should be grateful for being able to spend the day on the lake with or without the bucket of fish we hoped for.

Good luck, be safe and we'll see you on the ice!

Those conditions sounded pretty promising.
You are definitely right, a slow day out on the lake if always better than a day on the shore.  Especially if the weather is nice and the company is great.
It seems everywhere the fish are picky eaters, we mark fish on the river all day and see nice ones on the Aqua-Vu and only the cigars bite!

Thanks for the report.  We try to get up the Mille Lacs once a year, but I wasnt able to get up there this year, lets hope next!
