Big Buck sighting

My wife works swing shift and the other day she was on afternoons.
when she got home from work around midnight, both her and my daughter woke me up to tell me about the biggest buck either one of them had ever seen!
my wife said it was the biggest (bodied) deer she had ever seen in her life. she described the rack to me with passion! she told be there were at least 8 noticeable points on each side!! the main beams were heavy and the tines were tall.
it just stood there in the ditch like it was king **** and it knew it.
she must have told me about it a half dozen times yesterday, so this bad boy made an impression on her.
just for perspective, my wife has lived in the country all her life and she see's any where from 10 to fifty deer on the road on her way to or from work. she see's plenty of eight to ten point bucks and she comments on these as well, but nothing has grabbed her attention like this guy.

the best part of this is I know the area that this buck was spotted and now comes the fun part, trying to identify his tracks, which I need to do right now before the forecasted rain comes. then I need to scour the trails for the same track. I figure it will be no question when I see the same tracks when I get in the woods. then I need to figure out his routine. his bedding and feeding areas. at this date, I don't think the bucks are covering to much ground unless they get boosted around by a timber or something like that, but they would just go back to their same routine as the timbers cruise and hunt an area and then move on.

I will carry the camera with me and maybe even if he doesnt come into range, he will at least come into camera range so I can share it here.

Jiggle...  Send him back over to our land, he must be lost.    My cousin saw "Omar" last year and missed broud side 30 yards MAX...  >:(  He said it was the biggest deer he has ever seen and he hunted in Missouri when he lived down there. 

My dad has seen him this year already once and I hope to get him on the camera this weekend that has been out on the swamp the last two weeks.  We have seen the prints on the road also, just hope he comes out when I am in the stand.

I love Big buck sightings. They are there but you never see them until the most unexpected time and then it may be only that once that you do see him. Unfortunately most of my big buck sightings are in the metro and where they come from is completely unhuntable. Last year I saw this monster multiple times in the Snail Lake park area.  I would drive by there after work every night around 12:15am and he would be there milling around. I ran into a Ramsey County Deputy one night that was kindly telling me that the park was closed. i explained to her that I was only there to watch the deer and check on the monster. We talked for a bit and she said that the most points that she counted was 16. I tried multiple times to get a pic of tis bad boy but in the dark it would of never worked. I moved from the area but may have to make some trips over there towards the end of October. At the end of Oct and into early Nov. driving the area in the night you will see a few bucks if you know where to go. I also have seen a monster over by the armory. Saw him once...maybe twice.

Beside the Snail Lake monster the biggest buck I have seen in my life was near Taylors Falls. It was on land that I have never hunted but I did get permission. Although I do still have permission I have never been back. I wonder if he is still there?? And no this is not the land you are thinking of (BH73). It is my little secret place .

Saw a really big one by Winona. And I bet there's more. Every year that area produces and the biggest outta there was this monster 8 point with double drop tines about 3 years ago.

Jigglestick, did you ever track down and see this monster? I would love to see some pics of him if you were able to snag some on your mission.

this brute doesn not exist.
aside from finding tracks along the road side, this guy gave me the slip. I never saw anything close to what would have been made by him.
I sat in several locations in the general area he was sighted. I saw a nice ten pointer that is probably a 150 class buck but never a chance at a shot. there was a nice eight point maybe 110?
but no chance there either.
I can hope to have a better chance this fall. I will go looking for old sign after the spring thaw. I think he was a cruiser. might be from miles away. with that ten pointer around as often as he was, I gotta think this was not the big boys home turf.
