??? MOUNTS??????? the best mounts are the ones on film or just in your memory,s! they dont get dusty or never have to be revamped, all mounts do are impress the neighbors or the brother inlaws for mounts can be bought at any garage sale. practice C.P.R. WITH ALL THE MEMORIES THAT CAN NEVER BE TAKEN AWAY OR BOUGHT.? ;D

Thanks for the opinion. Thats what make the USA great!

But it is hard to shoot a Deer or a Duck or a Bear or anything that you shoot and practice CPR. If you notice I do not have any big pigges or any monster pike or ski's on the wall. Panfish is a different story.

A trophy is in the eye of the beholder..............if something is going to die I will mount it and be able to relive that moment again and again and be able to touch it. Hopefully my kids (someday) will be able to point at the wall after I am long gone and say that was my Dad.

My first deer I harvested was a 6 point buck.  My grandfather mounted it for me.  The biggest buck I have ever harvested is a 10 pointer.  That was the last deer my grandfather mounted.  He had actually had a mild stroke, and given up his taxidermist business.  Then as we stood in front of that buck hanging from the rafters in our boatshed, he said "I am gonna have to mount this buck for you".  That is the buck that hangs above the fire place today.  He passed away while we were deer hunting a couple years later.  No one can tell me that buck isn't a very special reminder of a very special man. :)

How is having something mounted not practicing CPR??? What else are you going to do with the hide after you get the meat out?? It's going to go in the trash, so why not put it on the wall.? Those are some nice mounts Wack.
That is a great way to be able to remember your grandfather OJ, everytime you look at that mount you have to see your grandpa.

Those are some of the best fish mounts i've ever seen SMG, how old is the stringer mount?  You've kept them in great shape.

Thanks guys :-*

That stringer mount is about 21 years old and actually looks better in real life without the camera flash reflections.

? ? ? ? ?Here's a quick story about taxidermy:

My in-laws retired in Mountain Home Arkansas years ago and we were visiting them. So, anyhow we took a ride over to the Wall-Mart store in town. Out in front of the store was an older gentleman with a display of his fish taxidermy work.

Now, I'm always bragging about MY taxidermist since he does the best smallmouth I've ever seen. So, I went over to check out this dudes work. To my surprise his smallmouth mounts were unbelievable and I wanted to make sure I give this fella some kudos.

I walked over and introduced myself with a look of pleasure on my face. I then went on to explain that I'm always bragging about the work that MY taxidermist does and he's the BEST I've ever seen. But, seeing your work I must admit that it's just as good as MY GUY.

Well, he asked? "Who is YOUR taxidermist?" I said Oh he's not from around here since I'm from Illinois. So, what's his name say's the gentleman? It's Douglas Taxidermy I told him. With a big grin on his face he say's that's MY SON.

How cool is that? I'm telling this guy that his work is as good as MY taxidermist and here he's the one who taught him.
